G318 Zero Kilometre · Ya’an

In Ya’an, I looked at what happened before a long drive began. Travellers stopped for a photograph at kilometre zero, but the departure itself offered little help with the journey ahead.

My work brought together three kinds of preparation: the road, the vehicle and the traveller. Fuel, vehicle checks, road information and altitude preparation gave the starting point a practical role, alongside the ritual of setting off.

The project moved into implementation and operation. It remains part of how I think about travel: a beginning should do more than mark a location.

很多人到了雅安，睡一晚，天亮就走。我想知道，這座城市除了讓人休息，還能為一段長途旅行做些甚麼。

在 G318 零公里，合影留下了出發的證明。我參與的工作，是把出發需要的準備也放進來：加油、檢查車輛、了解路況，也照顧接下來要進入高原的人。

當這些安排逐步落地，起點才有了更具體的意義。一段值得期待的旅程，可以從準備好自己開始。
