Kangma County · Tibet

In 2022, Kangma County Government commissioned us to explore the county’s place within a wider journey through Tibet. We led the work from field research to the completed proposal.

We connected three lakes with the surrounding routes, then looked more closely at local religious life and tsa-tsa craft. Together, these offered different reasons to turn towards Kangma, depending on the traveller’s interests.

Bhutan may feel distant and unfamiliar. Here, a trade gateway offers another perspective on the border: a place shaped by exchange, even when the journey goes no further.

The proposal gave the county a role within journeys already taking place around it. That remains a useful question in our work: where might a small change of direction add something that matters to the person travelling?

2022 年，受康馬縣政府委託，我們走進這裡，思考它在一段西藏旅程中，可以扮演甚麼角色。

從三座湖，到當地的信仰與擦擦工藝，我們把沿途看見的內容重新連起來。有些值得多走一段，有些適合停下來慢慢了解，取決於旅客對甚麼有興趣。

不丹讓人好奇，而這裡的貿易口岸，讓邊境有了更具體的面貌。貨物往來、生活相接，也承接著兩地之間的緩衝。不必跨過邊界，也可以多理解一點彼此。

我們希望讓康馬有更清楚的理由，被放進一段旅程裡。旅行的安排也是如此：多走的那段路，應該是因為你真的想去。
